Odd Grenland is refusing to pay salary to John Anders Bjørkøy after he was injured in a match against Fredrikstad in October last year. Bjørkøy has been on sick leave since then and has not received a salary from the club or NAV. Now he has hired lawyer Terje Scavenius to fight for his rights. Scavenius says that the club has a hidden agenda and that they will go to court to get Bjørkøy the compensation he is entitled to. Bjørkøy had a recognized occupational injury and should have received full pay even if he was injured. But the club has stopped payments and Bjørkøy is now without income. Odd Grenland's coach Dag Eilev Fagermo says that Bjørkøy is far from playing and that the club cannot count on him in 2011. Bjørkøy has a contract with Odd Grenland until 2012, but it is uncertain whether he will be able to play for the club again. Scavenius says that they are in dialogue with both the insurance company and Odd Grenland's lawyer, but that it is too early to say how the case will develop. Bjørkøy has received between 1.4 and 1.6 million kroner from Odd Grenland in the last year, but the club has been reimbursed 453,846 kroner from NAV. It is not clear whether Bjørkøy will earn less now that Odd is no longer paying his salary. Scavenius says that they will work to put together an economic package for Bjørkøy that is as good as the one he had before. Odd Grenland has not commented on the case publicly, but the club has confirmed that Bjørkøy is not receiving a salary from them at the moment.
